About Me

Welcome to Little Syllables!

I’m Krissy Barton, professional editor. When I’m not reading and editing, I spend my time creating my life story with my husband, four children, and two mischievous cats. I love traveling, thunderstorms, libraries, yoga, and gnomes. I read almost everything, and I look forward to reading what you’ve written.

I’ve always loved stories. From reading under the covers as a child to reading bedtime stories to my own children, I’ve spent my life with my nose in a book.

I graduated from Utah State University with a degree in English Literary Studies. I also have a Certificate in Copyediting from UCSD Extension. I’m always seeking to learn more about my craft! I’m an active member of ACES—The Society for Editing, The Editorial Freelancer’s Association, and the League of Utah Writers.

As an editor, I pride myself in my communication with my clients. I never want you to feel like you’ve sent your manuscript into a void, so I provide frequent updates on the progress of every project I work on. I have experience in proofreading, editing, transcription, and writing. I’ve edited marketing copy, memoirs, science fiction, fantasy, educational materials, and more!

Now I want to help you tell your story.

Client Testimonial

“I love telling stories and decided to try writing one down. Both my wife and I are engineers and have a technical writing background, which I thought would be good enough, boy was I wrong. When telling stories, I can feel the audience and adjust the ebb and flow of it to create an experience; but writing is very different. I found myself frustrated and demotivated by the process, and that's when my wife found Krissy Barton at Little Syllables.

Krissy was able to drastically clean up my long, messy story. She constantly kept us in the loop with updates and suggestions. She was very encouraging and helped make the process of story writing much clearer and more structured. Truthfully, she was able to breathe life back into my story, which I had all but given up on. I would recommend her services to any writer.”
