$25 project minimum for all services unless otherwise noted.
Deposit required at contract signing for all projects.


Content, Line, and Copyediting

Short Fiction & Non-Fiction Copyediting (fewer than 25,000 words):
$6-$9 per page, based on 250 words per page
($0.025-$0.036 per word)
$25 project minimum, 50% deposit required

Long Fiction & Narrative Non-Fiction Copyediting:
$5-$7.50 per page, based on 250 words per page
($0.02-$0.03 per word with a $100 project minimum)

Example: 50,000 words (approx. 200 pages) @ $5/page = $1000

Rates are dependent on the results of a sample edit, your timeline, and the complexity of the project. Deposit and payment requirements will be established before contract signing.

 

Proofreading

$2.50-$3.75 per page, based on 250 words per page
($0.01-$0.015 per word)
$25 project minimum, 50% deposit required

Example: 50,000 words @ $0.01/word = $500

Rates are dependent on the results of a proofreading sample, your timeline, and the complexity of the project.

 

Manuscript Evaluation

$100 flat rate, due at contract signing
Up to 30 pages or 7500 words

A manuscript evaluation provides a basic overview of problematic areas of your manuscript to help you self-edit before beginning a full professional copyedit. You will also receive a sample style sheet.

 

Transcription

$2-$3 per audio minute

Rates are based on the results of an audio sample.

$3.50 per page of copy typing + mechanical edits

Rates are based on the readability of the original text. $25 project minimum, 50% deposit required.


Sample Edits

Before signing a contract to begin a project, I will provide a free sample edit up to 4 pages of text (1,000 words) for longer projects.
Contact me about samples on shorter projects.
For transcription services, I will provide a sample of the transcription for up to 2 minutes of audio.


Terms & Conditions

Before beginning any project, a contract will be signed by both parties. This contract will detail the responsibilities of each party, as outlined here:

The client is responsible for:

  • fact-checking all documents provided to the editor.

  • obtaining necessary permissions to use or reference others’ work.

  • accepting or rejecting any or all editorial changes and suggestions.

  • maintaining backup copies of all materials. 

  • paying all invoices upon receipt.

Little Syllables (the editor) is responsible for:

  • providing editing, proofreading, or transcription services.

  • providing high-quality work with no guarantee of perfection.

  • communicating with the client throughout the project.

  • delivering a finished product by the agreed-upon deadline.

Little Syllables reserves the right to refuse service for any reason, including, but not limited to:

  • offensive, graphic, or sensitive content.

  • plagiarized content.

Cancellations after a project begins will be subject to partial payment based on the percentage of completed work. Larger projects will require installments to be paid throughout the project as detailed in the contract.
